CBE Family Literacy Week – Jan 26 – Feb 2

Families across Calgary are invited to join the Calgary Board of Education in celebrating Family Literacy Week from Jan. 26 to Feb. 2, to raise awareness about the importance of reading and engaging in other literacy-related activities.

The CBE Literacy & Early Learning Team has prepared a variety of information and activities to help families engage in meaningful learning at home and at school. Reading together or doing learning activities at home is crucial to a child’s learning and development.

Here’s how families can participate:

CBE At-home activities and resources: Find ways to make learning fun and impactful.
Calgary Public Library Family Reading Pick: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle, featuring a family reading adventure with a live performance and themed activities.
Family Literacy Day at-home activities and resources: Engage in other literacy-related activities as a family

Student Report Cards

Kindergarten to Grade 9 Report Cards will be available for viewing starting Feb. 24, 2026.

After May 29, 2026 all Semester 1 Reports Cards will no longer be available for viewing, downloading and/or printing. To obtain a copy for your records please ensure you have downloaded or printed your child’s report card prior to May 29, 2026.

Parents and Guardians can sign in to MyCBE to view student information, including report cards, comments from your child’s teacher, assignments and grades, and attendance information. For the best access to information, log in through the MyCBE portal instead of using the PowerSchool App.

Student Safety and Security

To ensure that all of our students are safe at Ramsay School, please note the following:

1. No drop-off or pickup in our Bus Zone.

2. Only Staff are permitted in the School Parking lot. This is 24-hour reserved parking.

3. No student drop-off or pickup in the School Parking lot.

4. Sidewalks are often slippery in the winter. Please use caution around the building.

5. All CBE Schools are secure buildings. Parents are only permitted to enter the school through the Front Doors. This includes morning drop-off and afternoon pickup.

6. All school visitors MUST sign in at the office and wear a visitor/volunteer tag while in the building.

Inclement Weather

CBE Guidelines recommend that students remain inside when the outdoor temperature reaches -20 Celsius or colder with the windchill. We are unable to provide separate indoor supervision for students who are not dressed for the weather or who are ill. Please see our webpage for more information: Winter Weather Reminders
