We hope that everyone is having a great start of the school year!

The Ramsay School Parent Association (RSPA) is the parent-volunteer organization at Ramsay School that is in charge of fundraising and deciding how the fundraised dollars are used. The RSPA holds its annual general meeting (AGM) every September. This year's AGM will be held online from 7-7:45pm on Wednesday, September 24. Details and links for the AGM will be provided closer to the date.

The current RSPA board Vice president, and Secretary will be stepping down at this September's AGM, and as you may know, we have been operating without a President since February 2025. This means we need least 3 parents or guardians to step in at the AGM to keep the RSPA running. The main roles that need to be filled for the RSPA to continue are president, vice-president, and secretary.  There is also room for 3 directors. We meet less than once a month, mainly to discuss budget and approvals for specific funding requests. These are great opportunities to better understand how various activities, events, supplies, and equipment are funded for the school. The main duties of the RSPA board is to manage the money raised and lead the fundraising efforts (Stampede Parking and Casino) so that the costs of enriching student experience at Ramsay School can continue to be covered. There are no more fundraisers scheduled for the remaining of 2025, and our next fundraiser is 2026 Stampede Parking.

If these roles are not filled, the RSPA will have to dissolve. Without a parent association, our school community will not be eligible to participate in casino fundraisers (the last one in 2024 raised $80,000 and we are scheduled for another casino fundraiser in November 2026). The absence of a parent association would also make the annual Stampede parking fundraiser more complicated to run.  

Not having the RSPA will have a huge financial impact on our school. Take some time over the next week or two and talk to other parents you know to sign up to be on the board together! No experience is necessary! Orientation will be provided and I will be available to answer questions the new board may have throughout the school year.
